So you’ve been asked to deliver a speech?

That’s great news!  Speeches are a powerful way to communicate.

We know this.  We’ve all witnessed it.  We’ve watched Martin Luther King, with goose bumps on our arms, as he mesmerised us all with his dream.  We’ve seen Barack magnetising worldwide audiences and Donald whipping them into frenzy.

But just as a great speech can elevate a speaker’s reputation and change the world for the better, so a bad speech can cost dear, with both time and money.  This is especially true in business.

Most business presentations are dull, uninspiring, and a waste of time.  They are happening right now, in offices and conference halls around the world.

So why, when the potential gains are so great, do so few people put in the effort to deliver a great speech?  Mostly, it’s because they “don’t have the time”.  And that’s a fair point.  It does take time to craft and practice a great speech.

It’s also because they don’t know how.  We are rarely taught the skill of standing in front of a crowd and captivating them with our words.  But it is a skill, and it can be learned.  If you want some help or guidance crafting your speech or help with the delivery, I can do that for you.

Whether you are staring at a blank sheet of paper and don’t know where to start, or whether you just need another pair of eyes to look over what you’ve written, feel free to get in touch.

How I can help

I can help with any or all of the following:

  • Write a speech for you from scratch
  • Take your ideas and help you craft them into a powerful speech
  • Edit a speech you have already written (before delivery)
  • Coach you on your delivery
  • Evaluate a speech you have already delivered and suggest improvements
I often speak at events myself on all aspects of communication, so I know what it takes to overcome the nerves and deliver your speech with impact. I’ve delivered speeches at conferences, business events, professional associations and writers groups

How does it work?

I work with most of my clients though Skype, phone and emails.  If you prefer to meet up in person, and the geography works, we can do that too.

We will start with an initial (no cost) chat to find out where you are with your speech and what help you need.  If after the call you want to go ahead, I will send you a quote for the work, and we can decide on timescales and deadlines.

Take a look at what my previous clients have said on the testimonials page.
